The first shopping trip to Roseau will be this Friday, Sept 12, 2008 and it is the only one that is free! This trip will serve as a guide to the various places to buy food, household goods, imported goods, spices and other fun stuff. The bus will be back by 2:00 pm so that first semester spouses can attend the white coat ceremony. The best part is, the driver will drop you (and your goodies) off at your front door. If you would like to go, please rsvp before Thursday evening to rossrsvp@gmail.com or rossspousesorg@gmail.com with the subject as shopping trip. See you there!

I am really a little late posting this information (Sorry Meg!) however, it is an important post so I wanted to get it up anyway. Anytime you can spare would be greatly appreicated.
Hello all spouses & significant others,
I wanted to invite any and all of you to participate in the following volunteer opportunities if you are interested. Please let me know if you would be interested in any of the following:
1. Help improve the reading skills of elementary aged children in the beautiful village of Savanne Paille (only a 10-15 minute drive). No experience needed. If you can read you can help! Every Thursday beginning June 12th we leave campus at 10:45 and return just after 12. The cost will decrease for transportation with the more of you who volunteer. The school is also a sister school of the Ross Prep School on campus and this has been an integral part of the partnership between the two since January of 2007.
2. I am trying to organize another summer reading program in Portsmouth for the months of July and August. This will be two days a week most likely from 10:30-11:30 in Portsmouth.
3. The SGA group Friends of Espwa Donmnik (hope dominica) is a community organization that is not limited to only student members. The group has a active community outreach program where you get to visit the elderly who are shut ins in there homes and those living in the local nursing home. There are 8 different visits scheduled throughout the semester and they are only a 2-3 hour time committment. Membership is only 50EC and includes a group t-shirt! The group focuses on raising funds to support local palliative and hospice patients as well as contributing to the development of associated medical equipment to the Princess Margret Hospital. Email friendsofhopedominica@gmail.com for more questions or ways to get involved.
