The first bake sale of the semester will be on Thursday, May 29, 2008.  Meet at the top of the shacks stairs to drop off your baked goods.  We will be selling them from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm.  All prices are donations to RSO, and you will receive a portion of the sales back to your RSO account.  This means if you would like to donate to the RSO bake sale, whatever money we make, 75% will go back to you to use with RSO.  This includes dues, payment for trips, etc.  If you would like to bake for the sale, please RSVP to rossrsvp@gmail.com by Wednesday, May 28.

The trip to Sari-Sari Falls and Aba Wavine Cyrine will be this Friday, May 23, 2008.  This trip is one of the most challenging hikes available on Dominica. Sari-Sari Falls requires a climb up through a narrow hole (just large enough for one man) between large boulders to reach the falls and pool. This 30 minute hike is moderate in difficulty level. Aba Wavine Cyrique is a short climb down a steep embankment during which your primary support is a large thick rope and your own strength. Climbing down 3 different ropes and a rope ladder to reach the beach is much more challenging after having hiked the hour to and from Sari-Sari falls. This is NOT a hike for those who are afraid of heights or are not physically fit or capable of the precipitous climb please do not attend. The spectacular reward for those brave enough to complete the journey is the waterfall which lands on the beach and in in the waves of the Atlantic ocean. Paid members are welcome to bring their spouse/significant other (Friday is research day) for the members only price, which will be determined based upon the number of RSVPs received. Please RSVP for this trip no later than Wednesday at midnight by e-mailing rossspousesorg@gmail.com.

After weeks of seeing the site broken, I decided to go in and fix it myself.  My husband and I put our heads together and solved the problem pretty quickly - thankfully, I still have admin privileges on the site.  There was an issue with the loading time of the page - the pictures that had been in the right hand nav were taking too long to load, causing everything in the right sidebar to time out and put up a MySQL server error message.  The only way to make the page work was to remove the pictures from the navigation (and put them back on the photos page), allowing the nav bar to load in the time allotted on the server.  The site is, once again, fully functional! :)
